Swimming Pool Care and Maintenance

All swimming pools are basically a big structures that holds water. Aside from that basic fact, all swimming pools are unique based on their age, size, type of surface, type of chlorination, size of pool pump, size of pool filter, how many trees are around the pool, how much debris enters the pool, how often the pool is used and by how many poeple, how often it is cleaned, how often chemicals are checked, added and balanced. It could be an above ground or inground pool. There are also major differences in water quality and the mineral content based on where you draw your water from.

Here are some of the contaminants that can end up in your pool water:

How Swimming Pools Work

Your swimming pool is designed to keep water moving freely through the pool equipment system. Their are two sections of your pool. The first side of the pool is pulling the water FROM the pool to the pump - this is the Suction-Side. The other side is pulling water back into the pool - this is the Pressure-Side.

Suction-Side

  • Surface Skimmer Baskets
  • The Main Drain
  • The Pump

Pressure-Side

  • Pool Pump and Motor
  • The Pool Filter
  • The Heater
  • The Return Valve
  • The Return Inlets
